At Mecanicad SAS BIC, our primary objective is to make a positive impact on the industrial sector by enhancing the productivity and operational profitability of our valued clients. Most recently, we had the pleasure of working with a hotel client who sought to enhance their energy efficiency. By conducting a thorough energy audit and implementing cutting-edge solutions, we successfully achieved a significant reduction in their energy consumption, leading to a notable increase in their profitability.

Technical and Economic Viability of Photovoltaic Systems

Before proceeding with the installation of photovoltaic systems, the client chose to conduct an energy audit. The purpose of this audit was to identify the equipment with the highest energy consumption and evaluate the technical and economic feasibility of implementing solar panels.

Identifying the Main Energy Guzzlers through and Energy Audit

Upon conducting the energy audit, significant findings emerged. The kitchen emerged as the primary energy consumer in the hotel, prompting a more in-depth examination of the refrigeration equipment and its setup.

  • Implementation of ECOBOTS: To address these challenges, we implemented two ECOBOTS.  One ubicated on a general position and another one specific to the kitchen. These devices allowed for more precise monitoring and control of energy consumption in real time.

Energy Audit Findings

  • Kitchen Energy Consumption: The energy audit revealed that the kitchen was the primary energy consumer in the hotel, largely attributed to the positioning and constant operation of the refrigeration equipment.
  • Inefficient Refrigeration Equipment: The refrigeration equipment was placed closely together, leading to inefficient operation and higher energy consumption. Furthermore, these units ran non-stop, 24/7, without any control settings in place to maximize their efficiency.

Implemented Solutions

  • Separation of Hot and Cold Areas: In order to enhance efficiency, a decision was made to separate the hot and cold areas using thermal insulation. This strategic measure effectively reduced heat transfer and subsequently decreased the energy consumption of the refrigeration equipment.
  • Installation of Load Timer Relays: Load timer relays were installed to control the operation of the cooling equipment. These devices allowed for more efficient operation by reducing the operating time of the equipment when it was not necessary.

Results

  • 25% Energy Savings: The implemented solutions resulted in an impressive 25% saving in the hotel’s energy consumption. These savings not only translated into a significant reduction in operating costs, but also a positive impact on the hotel’s environmental sustainability.

Conclusion

The energy audit carried out by the hospitality client was a crucial step in identifying areas for improvement and increasing energy efficiency. The implementation of photovoltaic systems, together with other solutions such as ECOBOTS and load timer relays, proved to be highly effective. This approach has not only reduced operational costs, but has also contributed to a more sustainable future for the hospitality sector.

At Mecanicad, we are proud to have assisted this client in achieving their energy efficiency goals and positively impacting their operational productivity and profitability.
